Not unexpectedly, Thomas Randle was the standout ‘rookie’ of the 2018 Dunlop Super2 Series.Despite never having competed at most of the venues making up the championship trail, Randle claimed two front row starts and an average race finishing position of eighth.
Among the highlights of his debut Supercar year, Randle claimed pole position at the Western Australia round despite having never previously sighted the circuit, while his best race finish was a second place – also achieved in WA – which also saw the youngster scoring his first Supercars podium after just two contested events.
At year’s end Randle received the Mike Kable ‘Young Gun’ Rookie of The Year Award, further confirming his status as the standout Supercars debutant. Former winners of this prestigious award include Mark Winterbottom, Marcos Ambrose, Rick Kelly, Scott McLaughlin, James Courtney and Cam Waters.
Entering his second year of Dunlop Super2 competition with Tickford Racing Randle is looking to challenge for race wins and take the fight up to the front-running protagonists on a regular basis.
